How to get listed in the gig guide

I want to add my itinerary/festival to the tour calendar. How do I do that?

Email, fax, or snail mail us the info so that we receive it before the deadline. See below for where to send it. Listings are free, although it would be nice to subscribe to help support all the hard work that goes into compiling and publishing the tour calendar.

Do not send us just a website URL and expect us to harvest the information. We don't have enough employees or time to hunt around on websites.

Printed Edition Deadlines

Deadline for the bi-monthly printed edition in the magazine is the first of every even-numbered month for the issue two months ahead (eg., the deadline for June/July dates is April 1st). See the deadline chart.

Electronic Edition Deadlines

Deadline for the monthly electronic edition posted on our Gig Guide, and the ftp site (see Gig Guide for info) is the 1st of each month for the next month's update (eg., the deadline for March dates is February 1st). See the deadline chart.

Dead Deadlines

These deadlines are dead.... The printed edition is shipped off to the printer soon after the deadline, so no last-minute additions can be squeezed in. It takes us a full month to process all the incoming data for posting on the website, so late information cannot be added.

Allowable listings are: gigs and festivals in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico that are open to the general public (no private, members-only, conference-only, or school-only concerts). Also overseas festivals can be listed in the "Events" section provided complete information is received (see below).

Format

If sending via email, please use plain text -- no fancy formatting, MS Word files sent as attachments, JPG files of a wall poster, spreadsheet files, etc. The simpler, the better!

Info to Supply

Please supply the following info for the artist schedule section:

Example of suggested format:

Joe Schmoe
June
(1) Fillmore West/San Francisco, CA 101/555-1212
(15) house concert/Detroit, MI 010/555-1212
July
(11) Carnegie Hall/New York, NY 212/555-1212
(12) Foo's Bar & Grill/Nowheresville, NY (w/Elvis Presley) 914/555-1212
Upcoming tours: August (Canada), Sept 15-25 (Midwest)
bookings: 888/555-1212
info: 888/666-1111
email: folkbreath@fakebarf.com
WWW: http://www.folk_mercenary.com/~schmoe/index.html

Note: if you follow this format, it's easy to add to our database. Anything else that requires a human to process may not make it in..... Anything that doesn't follow the above format will probably require re-ryping, which increases the chances for typos to sneak in (especially in phone numbers), and also decreases the chances that the the gigs will be entered at all (we only have a limited amount of time available to process that huge flood of gig info we receive every month).

For events (festivals, camps, conferences, etc.):

For events where performers are not yet confirmed, please send the rest of the information (dates, contact info, etc.) so we can add the event to the Gig Guide. Performers can be filled in for a later edition as they are confirmed.

Venues

Venues should send us the venue name, the venue's city & state (or province), and a contact phone number readers can use to obtain more information about the gig (ticket price, show time, directions, etc.) Then list the dates and performers' name(s) for each date. Sorry, we can't list venue email and website info (our software can't handle it).

Example of venue info:

Joe's Super Great Coffeehouse/East Westovia, MD 301/555-1212
3/1 Elvis Presley, Elvis Costello, and Celtic Elvis
3/8 The Celtoids
3/15 Bob Dylan
3/22 & 23 The New Crusty Nostrils
3/25 Celtic Blurr

Where to send it

Itineraries and event listings should be sent to one of the following addresses:

Please do not include any other correspondence with Gig Guide info. Absolutely NO listings can be accepted via phone.

You only need to send the info once. Please do not send us copies via multiple methods: email, fax, and snail mail. Pick one way only!!! The info will remain in our database for both the magazine and the website until the dates pass. You need to tell us if things get cancelled or rescheduled.
